Madison Cooper and Dylan Logan competed at the Australian Short Course Championships – virtually!
The National Championships couldn’t come together this year, so instead, Victorian athletes came together to race at MSAC. Over the next few days, other states will hold their own meets. Then, all results will be merged to give us the final National Short Course Championship results.
Madi, as usual went for the hard long races: 800 FS, 400 IM, 400 FS, 200 Bk and others. Her toughness was on full display, backing up an 800 FS after having raced a 200 BK or racing the 200 FS then stepping up and swimming a PB in her 400 IM 10 minutes later. Madi was right on her PBs for all races, and a PB in her 400 IM. Her best ranking was 16th (in Australia) in the 200 BK. Amazing working from this fit young women.
Dylan, as usual packed his program with 11 events over 4 one hour sessions. Dylans smile and focus was on full display this weekend, he came to race fast. 3 Australian Records and a silver medal in the 50 BK is all I need to say. You could tell he’d been busy this covid lock down – getting strong and finding a routine that works for him.
We are all very proud of these two athletes, performing on limited training compared to other states. It is testament to their dedication and work ethic throughout this interrupted season.
We are very much looking forward to seeing them and the rest of our team compete at our home pool very soon. Keep December 19th and 20th free! And get ready to race!
