National Squad
Coach: Aaron Tenabel
Recommended sessions: 8+ sessions per week plus gym/dryland
Purpose:
The National Performance Squad must have National Open or Age qualifying times. This group also must aspire towards a High-Performance mindset and have a high work ethic. Consistent training attendance is a must. The professionalism of the group is of a high standard in & out of the pool, to allow for peak performance. The team culture and values are the backbone of the squad and the club. The swimmers are invited by the Head Coach to join this squad only. The re-selection of this squad is completed after each Major Championship each year. [Short Course and long course National Championships]
National Age Development Squad
Coach: Rob Steinman
Recommended sessions: 7+ sessions per week plus gym/dryland
Purpose:
The squad are swimmers who have shown potential to make National age times and are willing to develop their skills and have the personal goals and aspirations to move forward. The strength and conditioning program will continue along its development pathway according to the individual needs of the swimmer. The training phases will increase according to everyone’s individual background and ability. The swimmer must show a willingness to build a team culture, through team standards and a strong work ethic. The swimmers are invited by the Head Coach to join this squad after the winter and summer competitions.
Senior Competitive Squad
Coach: Kai Vincent
Recommended sessions: 4 per week
Purpose:
The Club Competitive Squad is for 14 + and upwards who enjoy their swimming but without the higher performance requirements. The focus of training is on all elements from Speed to Aerobic work. The Dryland component is for general fitness and overall core development, with some strength conditioning. The Club squad is encouraged to swim individual events at SV Country Championships & in relays providing they meet QT’s, and GSC Championships Relay Policy
State Gold Squad

Recommended sessions: 5 sessions per week (6 sessions available)
Purpose:
The State squad must obtain SV State Age qualifying times in more than 1 stroke, with aspirations to gain National qualifying times. The ages for this group are 12 – 14 +/-. This squad is the start of a performance-based group, with an increase in commitment level to attendance and competition requirements. The training loads are again increasing, covering all 4 strokes but with a little more on specific needs of the individual. The introduction of a strength and conditioning program, which is to cater for a long-term development in this area. The focus in this area is correct technique and a base strength, with the emphasis on training movements. The swimmer must show and have a willingness to help build a team culture, through team standards and a strong work ethic.
State Squad

Recommended sessions: 5 sessions per week (6 sessions available)
Purpose:
The State squad must aim to obtain State Age qualifying times in more than 1 stroke, with aspirations to gain National qualifying times. The ages for this group are 12 – 14 +/-. This squad is the start of a performance group, with an increase in commitment level to attendance and competition requirements. The training loads are again increasing, covering all 4 strokes but with a little more on specific needs of the individual. The introduction of a strength and conditioning program which is to cater for a long-term development in this area. The focus in this area is correct technique and a base strength, with the emphasis on training movements. The swimmer must show and have a willingness to help build a team culture, through team standards and a strong work ethic.
State Development Squad

Recommended sessions: 4 per week (5 available)
Purpose:
The Pre-State squad aims are to obtain State Qualifying times. The age of this squad is 12-14 +/-, with the goals of having a sustainable competitive swimming routine. An increase in training load in volume & intensity is introduced with the focus on developing the aerobic base, but still maintaining the Medley focus. The dryland program becomes more specific with circuit programs where high intensity is obtained. The conditioning is towards core, balance, shoulder stability and overall general fitness & strength development.
Junior Gold Squad
Coach: Kai Vincent
Recommended sessions: 3 per week (4 available)
Purpose:
The Junior Gold squads aim are to obtain Country Qualifying times. The age of this squad is 9-11 +/-, with the goals of having a sustainable competitive swimming routine. An increase in training load is introduced on a gradual progression bases, but still maintaining the Medley focus. A sound technique
is the cornerstone of the long-term development plan and will be reinforced as the progressive loads increase. The dryland program becomes a little more specific for general conditioning towards core, balance, shoulder stability and overall development.
Junior Squad
Coach: Max, Alicia & Will
Recommended sessions: 3 per week (4 available)
Purpose:
The Junior squad is where swimmers learn the more advance drills of all the 4 competitive swim strokes. Dive and turns skills are also implemented to more of a competitive race mode. The training emphasis in this squad is now Medley based for all swimmers, with a major component on sound technique, streamlining and Kick work. The training loads will increase slowly forming an aerobic base, along with some speed work and relays. All swimmers will be introduced to some domestic competitions.

Junior Development Squad
Coach: Max, Alicia & Will
Recommended sessions: 2 per week (3 available)
Purpose:
This squad is where swimmers learn the fundamentals of all the 4 competitive swim strokes. Along with the rules for each of the strokes. Dive and turns skills are also implemented. The training emphasis in this squad is on all competitive strokes, with a major component on sound technique, streamlining and Kick work.
This squad will also learn how to use a pace clock, and training ethics and be part of a team environment, all while in a fun atmosphere.
Transition Squad
Coach: Learn to Swim Teachers
Recommended sessions: 1 squad plus 1 learn to swim lesson
Purpose: This squad is for those swimmers in our LTS program who are thinking about taking their swimming further, whilst still learning fundamental stroke techniques. The two main focus areas of this squad are increasing swimming time and distance. We will be introducing the fundamental racing skills of starts, turns and finishes at this initial level.
